Cavello Nero in full action. About 8 plants down producing plentiful supplies of lush dark green leaves. (Iron supplies sorted!). Grown under frames/netting seems to be working well keeping circling cabbage whites at bay!! Destined for Ottolenghi’s Cavello Nero with Chorizo and preserved Lemons (sadly not home grown)

After a pretty wet June it looks like garlic is ready to dig up and dry mid July. Enough for a year? Not sure, the way we get through it…
A decent crop now under netting and no root fly. Ready to pull mid July
First pull of carrots under netting = no carrot root fly 😀. Small/ medium size
Just looking like ready to start harvesting. Under fleece to avoid cabbage whites… pick lower leaves periodically. ESP lovely as part of minestrone soup as hold it’s colour without leaching
We have been enjoying Sugar Snap Pea harvest almost daily for the last 10 days and still going strong. Really enjoying the evocative taste and crunch of them especially as “spoons” for hummus. Started in the last week of June
